Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School

At St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, we believe that inclusion is not where support begins – it’s where it lives. Our commitment to inclusive education is rooted in the understanding that great teaching is great intervention. Every classroom is a place where needs are not only met - but anticipated - through the daily, intentional practice of teachers, who know that small strategies can make a big difference.

We recognise that all pupils are entitled to a quality of provision that enables them to achieve their God-given potential. This belief is central to our mission and is reflected in our approach to SEND. We embrace positive intervention, remove barriers to learning, raise expectations and achievement, and work in close partnership with families and external agencies to ensure every child experiences success.

As it is written in Scripture:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

This reminds us that potential is not limited by circumstance, and with the right support, every child can flourish.

Our Universal Provision is powerful in its simplicity and consistency. It is not a starting point—it is the foundation of inclusion. When every teacher owns the strategy, every pupil benefits. Everyday classroom practices—such as greeting pupils at the door, using relational and restorative approaches to manage behaviour, and embedding inclusive teaching techniques—are not just routines. They are purposeful interventions that support all learners while proactively addressing the needs of the most vulnerable.

These strategies represent both effective intervention and high-quality teaching, ensuring that SEND is not a separate agenda but a shared responsibility across our school.

We value and nurture positive parent-school relationships, knowing that working together is key to getting it right for all. We welcome open communication and collaboration with families, recognising that parents are the first educators and essential partners in their child’s journey.
