Useful information!
Tuesdays:
· Year 3 P.E day and Year 3/4 Sports club after school.
Thursdays:
· Home learning and reading books returned from the previous week.
Fridays:
· New home learning and reading books given out.
P.E
P.E. Kit consists of a white t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms, and suitable footwear for outdoor sport. A school jumper can still be worn for warmth. Our P.E day lines up with the Sports after school club. That way, your child will already be in their suitable clothing if you wish for them to attend.
Home learning
Home learning and Home Reading will both be sent out on a Friday. Your child will receive a reading book each week with a reading record. They both need to be returned the following Thursday. This gives us enough time for us to read with all of the children in school and to swap books/homework ready for the following week. In Y3 your child’s home learning is to practise their spellings and times-tables. A new set of spellings/time-table will be sent home on a Friday inside their books. Inside their books you can see how your child has gotten on with their previous tests. We ask that these books be returned weekly with their reading books ready for their tests and new learning on a Friday.

Spelling Shed
For Year 3’s, part of their homework is through Spelling Shed. Spelling Shed is a platform with comprehensive spelling progression in lessons and interactive games. Your child will be given their own log in to access the website. There is an expectation across school that at least five games are played throughout the week at home. Each game takes no more than two minutes. The word is read aloud and put into a sentence, so that the child gains a better understanding of the meaning of the word. On Fridays your child will then have a spelling test based on the words they have been assigned. Your child will then take home their spelling book so you can see what they have achieved. Inside there will also be a new list of spellings ready to practise for the following week. We give out a physical copy of the spellings as to include screen-free households.
Times-Table Rockstars
Times tables are recognised as essential to access many mathematical concepts and knowledge will be assessed at the end of Y4 by a National test.
When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help pupils master the times tables!
The children will be introduced to how Times Tables Rock Stars works and the appropriate times tables to practice on a weekly basis will be allocated.
This programme can be accessed online via the web address on the attached letter - your child has their own login and password. You may also download an App for the Iphone/iPad or Android App through which your child may practice.
When they first login, your child will choose their own rock star name and design their own avatar before starting to practise.

We will be using TTRS in school but extra practise at home is always appreciated.
If you are a device free household, do not worry! Our times-table of the week will be sent home via a paper copy as well. Meaning your child can practise their times table in any way that suits your household.
